Wind Farm

Wind Farm by Senor Pep

Birmingham City Council have produced a draft supplementary planning document to promote more sustainable development: Places for the Future.

Out for consultation until the 22nd of March 2012  Places for the Future when adopted will become part of the City Council’s Local Development Framework.

To achieve its aim of more sustainable development  Places for the Future includes a Sustainability Checklist. This will be applied to the following types of development:

  • sites of 15 dwellings or more;
  • residential development sites of 0.5 hectares or more; and
  • other development of 1,000 square metres or more.

In addition, development above the thresholds set in policies SP7 and SP8 of the Draft Core Strategy will have to prepare a Carbon Budget Statement. This will look at a development’s potential for carbon emissions.
