Salford City Council are consulting on the latest version of their Core Strategy.

The Core Strategy in setting out its vision for Salford in 2028, includes policies for the following:

  • encouragement of high levels of investment and development in the regional centre, including the provision of 450,000 square metres of additional floorspace at Media City;
  • housing-led regeneration in Central Salford to reduce the long-term problems of deprivation suffered by these areas, and to create neighbourhoods that are attractive to live in;
  • enhancement and consolidation of the suburbs in Salford West;
  • promotion of sustainable development and the re-use of previously developed land;
  • provision of 500,000 square metres of additional office floorspace;
  • a net reduction in industrial and warehousing floorspace that will see an improvement in the overall quality of such uses;
  • 22,100 net additional dwellings; and
  • release of greenfield land at Worsley Boothstown to provide 300 homes, and release of greenfield land at Burgess Farm to provide 500 homes.
