Warwickshire Association of Local Councils – Neighbourhood Plan Training
In conjunction with Warwickshire Association of Local Councils (WALC) Kirkwells will be offering a FREE, one-day neighbourhood plan training session. Hands on and without the “spin” this session will be a chance to hear “warts and all” from expert practitioners about the pros and cons of neighbourhood planning. Through hands on exercises you will also be given new skills and insights in how to put together a successful neighbourhood plan. The training day will run from 10.00 am (registration 9.30 am) until 3.30 pm at the The Pavillion, Hockley Heath, B94 6QT on Saturday the 18th of May 2013. Neighbourhood Plan Regulations For Business Plan Referendum

Upper Eden Neighbourhood Plan: Yes Vote
In the landmark vote the residents of Upper Eden have voted “Yes” in their neighbourhood plan referendum. In response to the question: “Do you want Eden District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for the Upper Eden area to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?” The vote went as follows: Yes: 1,310 No: 138 But the real boost for neighbourhood planning, and one Ministers must have been waiting for with hands over the eyes, was the turnout: 1,452 (33.67%). We must admit we had been thinking this could have been in the low teens. After the dismal Police Commissioner turnout of 15%. Kirkwells Support Horninglow and Eton Neighbourhood Plan Frontrunner
Kirkwells will be providing support on another of the Government’s neighbourhood planning frontrunners: Horninglow and Eton in Burton upon Trent. In announcing the appointment Horninglow and Eton Parish Council Chairman Clive Burton said: “The neighbourhood planning process is very new to us all. Louise Kirkup and Michael Wellock from Kirkwells clearly have a lot of experience of this sort of work and they are patiently guiding us through it. Funding for a 1,000 Neighbourhood Plans
That was the upshot of an increased support package offered by Government to local planning authorities. In a letter to chief planning officers the Department of Communities and Local Government are offering a greater support package to help local councils support neighbourhood planning. This includes £5 million for new neighbourhood planning designations in 2013/2014. So at £5,000 for very designation that is potentially a further 1,000 neighbourhood planning areas across the country. In the same letter the government also announced a three stage payment system to help local councils support communities in their neighbourhood planning work: a first payment of £5,000 following designation of the neighbourhood planning area – capped at £5 million in 2013/2014; a second payment of £5,000 when … Continue reading

£9.5 million Funding to Support Neighbourhood Plans
This is the big news we flagged up some time ago in our monthly Neighbourhood Planning News. And, today (14 March 2013), Communities Minister Don Foster announced a £9.5 million of funding, over 2-years to support people in creating neighbourhood plans to shape development in their area. Groups of residents seeking to create a neighbourhood plan will be able to bid for up to £7,000 of funding each to contribute to the costs of preparing their proposal. Neighbourhood planning groups will find full details about the new 2-year programme from 15 April on the My Community Rights website.
