West lancashire Local Plan LogoAffected by future development in West Lancashire? You have until the 5th of October 2012 to comment on the West Lancashire Local Plan.

The West Lancashire Local Plan caused some controversy last year due to its greenfield allocations. Now West Lancashire Council, in setting out how the area will develop up to 2027, has embarked on a final consultation that carries forward a number of these greenfield development proposals, including:

  • a strategic site at Yew Tree Farm, Burscough – where 500 homes will be built and land is safeguarded for 500 more;
  • safeguarded land for housing should market conditions improve;
  • provision for 75 hectares of employment land, including extension of the Burscough industrial estate in to the Green Belt; and
  • a 10 hectare extension in to the Green Belt to allow the expansion of Edge Hill University.

If the West Lancashire Local Plan affects you this is the last chance to comment before submission to the Secretary of State. To make sure your the plan is in tune with your vision for the future get expert help from Kirkwells’ RTPI chartered town planners by calling – 01282 872570 or email.
