Trafford Council in Greater Manchester is consulting on future land allocations.
The land allocations consultation is the next stage in the Council’s preparation of a new Local Plan for Trafford. The consultation document Shaping the Plan will:
- Identify and prioritise the sites necessary to meet the sustainable needs of the borough
- Identify the natural and built assets which should be protected/enhanced
- Identify the key design, environmental and infrastructure requirements for allocated sites
- Ensure that new development is delivered within an identified timescale
Trafford Core Strategy Key Diagram
Shaping the Plan builds from Trafford Core Strategy’s division of the Borough in to ten places, and seeks to meet the needs of these communities, as set out in the Spatial Profile and Place Objective sections of the Core Strategy.
Five Strategic Locations are identified in the Core Strategy as areas for change. These are:
- Pomona Island;
- Trafford Wharfside;
- Lancashire County Cricket Club Quarter;
- Trafford Centre Rectangle;
- Carrington.
In line with the Core Strategy, this Plan will not allocate development sites outside of the urban area, either on Green Belt land or “Other Protected Open Land”.
To identify land to meet the needs in Trafford the council are now seeking views on existing, proposed and possible land allocations.
So if you are looking to develop land or property interests in Trafford, or protect your local environment you need to respond to this consultation. By doing this you can make sure your views are taken in to account in the future development of Trafford.
