£10 Million For Neighbourhood Planning
The Government has created a £10 million fund to help local councils support parishes and neighbourhood groups to prepare neighbourhood plans. Councils can apply for up to £30,000 to facilitate local groups in the preparation of plans for their area. This funding will be released in two payments – £5,000 on designation of a neighbourhood planning area and up to £25,000 on the successful completion of an independent neighbourhood planning examination. This funding will allow over 300 neighbourhoods to pursue their neighbourhood plans. If you are one of these and you need expert help call 01282 872570. Kirkwells Appointed to Support Stretton Neighbourhood Plan
Kirkwells have been appointed by Stretton Parish Council to help support their neighbourhood plan preparation. Stretton are one of the Government’s neighbourhood planning frontrunners. Currently awaiting publication of their designation notice Stretton had previously been one of a number of parishes in East Staffordshire who had attended one of Kirkwells’ neighbourhood planning training sessions. In announcing the appointment Stretton Parish Council Chairman David Eynon said: “We are very pleased to have the support of Kirkwells at this important time. Ilkley and Leeds Neighbourhood Plan Bids
The North of England has been relatively slow in taking up the chance to prepare neighbourhood plans. But in the last few days we have had moves from a number of parishes to get things moving by seeking a neighbourhood planning area designation. So in Bradford Ilkley Parish Council’s application is being consulted on until the 27th of August. Landmark: Neighbourhood Plan to Decide on Housing Sites
In a landmark decision the Inspector’s report in to the South Oxfordshire Core Strategy has recommended deleting a strategic land allocation and devolving all housing allocations to the Thame Neighbourhood Plan. In March 2011 the Core Strategy for South Oxfordshire District Council was submitted to the Secretary of State with a strategic site allocation of 530 new dwellings to the north west of Thame. It is now recommended this strategic site is deleted. Firstly, because Henley-on-Thames Town Council is a government neighbourhood planning frontrunner and is preparing a Neighbourhood Plan.
