South Tyneside Strategic Land Review – Call For Sites
South Tyneside Council is looking to prepare a new Local Plan. To kick off this development plan preparation process South Tyneside Council are undertaking a comprehensive Strategic Land Review (SLR) of the borough. All people interested in the future of South Tyneside, whether as landowners, agents, potential developers, community groups or individuals are being asked to put forward sites that they think should be considered for future development. These sites would help meet South Tyneside’s housing, employment, retail, leisure and recreational needs in either the short-term (1-5 years), medium-term (5-10 years) or long-term (10-20 years). Over 18,000 new homes for Doncaster
Doncaster is consulting on the next stage of their Local Development Framework – the Sites and Policies Development Plan Document. Building on the Core Strategy this document runs up to 2028 and will have to identify: suitable land for 18,450 new homes in the Doncaster main urban area (which extends from Bentley to Bessacarr/Cantley and from Balby to Kirk Sandall), Thorne, Mexborough, Conisbrough, Adwick and Woodlands, Armthorpe, Askern, Rossington, Stainforth and Hatfield and smaller amounts in Denaby, Edlington, Carcroft and Skellow and Moorends; and space for 290 hectares of distribution warehousing, 190 hectares of light industry and manufacturing and 140,000 square metres of new office use. Developing Green Infrastructure and the Brun Valley Forest Park
In developing the concept of a Brun Valley Forest Park, David Hortin from the Kirkwells team led on the identification and use of Green Infrastructure (GI). This work supported the development of Local Development Framework policies. With support from the Countryside Agency, via Green Infrastructure North West; the GI of Burnley was mapped using a geographical information system (GIS). As a result of this work, and in liaison with Burnley Council’s Greenspace and Amenities Unit, the concept of a Forest Park in the Brun Valley was put forward, linking the town to the countryside through existing woodland, parks, and a former landfill site and colliery.
