One in 10 British homeowners ‘have broken planning and building restrictions’

Reports the Daily Telegraph. Based on a survey of builders and surveyors carried out for LV=home insurance many homeowners are making alterations without seeking the correct approvals and consents. This can be costly. Your local planning authority can use their enforcement powers – making you make necessary alterations, including taking down completed work, and, in some cases, leaving you with large legal costs and a hefty fine.
