Neighbourhood Plan Funding Increase

Locality have announced that the basic neighbourood planning grant has increased from £9,000 to £10,000. Whitnash Neighbourhood Plan Consultation

With the help of Kirkwells the Whitnash Neighbourhood Plan Working Group has now published its draft plan and is seeking comments. The draft consultation period is between 1st October 2014 and 5pm, Wednesday 12th November 2014. Neighbourhood Plan Yes Vote

Chaddesley Corbett’s Neighbourhood Plan has been approved at referendum. In just over 12 months, Kirkwells have helped the Parish Council get their Neighbourhood Plan to this all important stage. The referendum  was held on Thursday 11 September 2014. The question which was asked in the referendum was: ‘Do you want Wyre Forest District Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Chaddesley Corbett to help it decide planning applications in the neighbourhood area?’ There were 328 votes cast in total, of which 265 (81%) were in favour of the plan, to 62 (19%) votes against the plan.  One ballot paper was rejected and the turnout was 27.8%. Herefordshire Neighbourhood Plan Training

Horninglow and Eton Neighbourhood Plan First Stage Consultation

From 3rd of March 2014 to 14th of April 2014 the Horninglow and Eton Neighbourhood Plan is out for its first six week period of formal consultation. One of the Government’s Neighbourhood Planning Frontrunners, Kirkwells have been helping the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group and Parish Council develop the policies and proposals for the plan. Quicker, Simpler Neighbourhood Plans?

Planning Minister Nick Boles wants a quicker, simpler neighbourhood planning process. Hailing neighbourhood planning a “huge success” with over 800 neighbourhoods now pursuing neighbourhood plans Nick Boles now wants to speed up their preparation. In a speech to the Town and Country Planning Association reported in Planning Boles said the government wanted to look at “which bits of the process were unnecessary or over-long”. He went on: “We all recognise the full level of complexity is not suitable in every case. Neighbourhood Planning in Herefordshire

Saturday (28th of September 2013) saw the Kirwells’ 2013 UK Tour hit Hampton Bishop in Herefordshire. This was part of our neighbourhood plan training for parish councils. Organised in association with Herefordshire Association of Local Councils an enjoyable, certainly from the feedback we had, was had by all. Setting off we had been wondering what to expect Herefordshire is after all the land of not only cider but neighbourhood plans. Over 50 designations and climbing. And a very comprehensive local authority package of support. But we probably worried unduly as our mix of: overview to neighbourhood planning; exercises on general conformity and how to put together a plan; sessions on community engagement; and neighbourhood planning and planning applications seemed to hit the spot … Continue reading

Parish and Town Councils Given £1.3 million to Neighbourhood Plan

Parish and Town Councils across England have been given £1.3 million to support the preparation of their Neighbourhood Plans. In total, 234 areas will receive a share of the £1,353,574 of Government funding from the neighbourhood planning grants distributed by Locality. How Much Does It Cost To Produce a Neighbourhood Plan?

If you are a parish council, town council, or neighbourhood forum this question is probably at the top of your list.  If are considering such a major piece of work, you want to go into this with your eyes open. Unfortunately there is not much information out there, and some of it is very misleading. We have seen cost ranges of £60,000-£100,000 bandied about. There may be one or two extremes out there that do cost so much, but, in general, neighbourhood plans will be prepared for much, much less than this. OK.
